Doing Kingdom Work

Doing Kingdom work in the name of our God is an amazing thing. For the Fourth of July weekend, CHOSEN Ministry played once again in Marie Luna Park, in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas. This is a street ministry/Outreach sponsored by UIOCM www.uiocm.fr.st. This is a three day outreach, where Larry Locker, head of UIOCM, has ministers with bands and rappers. The people of the area are underprivileged, homeless, near homeless, multi ethnic, and multi racial. Chosen ministry has done three outreaches here at Marie Luna Park, and each time it gets heavier duty so to speak.

On Friday July 4, Chosen played an early set, as we were scheduled to be in Anna TX for the Anna July 4 celebrations by 3:00... Starting the one hour set about 1:30, people began to show up. They danced and God’s presence once again could be felt... Several people accepted Christ and came to the stage area for prayer. We had about 20 T shirts with the “old” Chosen Logo on them and planned on giving half of them away on Day 1... But people kept coming over asking for a shirt. It was not possible to turn away people that really needed a new T shirt, so we gave away all 20 of them...

On Day 2, July 5, Chosen played later in the day, about 6:00 p.m. This was a day for the ages!! Several people were back for a second day of CHOSEN and had worn the CHOSEN shirts we gave out the day before. As we got into the worship part of the set people came in front of the stage and received prayer from one of Larry’s “team”... then Larry came up to minister, and before we knew it there were a circle of women who needed help and need prayer. The CHOSEN singers all gathered around the women as our lead singer Heather prayed over them... all the while the band was playing through Lord of the Breakthrough by Israel Houghton. Larry felt there was a man needing help with a problem, and up came a guy that was in need of Christ. Larry prayed over him and some of the singers from the band before us... El Grupo Legacy.. laid hands on him and he accepted Christ.. this happened with several people. GOD WAS THERE and we were helping usher the spirit before people that really needed him. What an unbelievable experience. To be playing music for the kingdom, and KNOW God has shown up.. and to watch people get saved during all this, is an unbelievable feeling.. this was such an intense experience, and I KNOW we were all emotionally and physically  drained at the end of the hour and a half that we played/ministered.

Gods Assignment

Well it happened overnight.. I lay in bed moaning and groaning in total pain. I agreed the next day to go to the doctor where they ran tests on me for kidney infection.. which was negative so I ended up in the hospital. After being in emergency for 7 hours they decide I have pancreitis. This is caused by one of three things: excessive drinking, and I don't drink anything with alcohol: high triglycerides, which I have fought most of my adult life, or med issues. I have been taking tricor, and there is a 1% chance of pancreitis from tricor.
SO for 4 days, I lived on MAJOR pain killers thru the IV and sucking on ice cubes for “food”. After a few days, my pastor called to tell me he had heard from God about me and it would be late but he would be there… he showed up about 10:00 when I was fussing waiting for another hit in the IV. Shellye, CHOSEN’S soprano was visiting at that time as well. WELL.. Pastor begins to tell me that the reason I was there,, God told him my assignment as leader of Chosen, and ministering to people.. is SO HUGE that the enemy was M-A-D.. that through my work with Chosen I was going to be leading thousands to Christ, and with Chosen we were going to be a HUGE force in the kingdom… WOW tell me that was not intense information. I have been a Christian 5 years, I was born Jewish and grew up agnostic after my father died when I was 10… After coming to Christ, The Lord told me that I was going to be playing my bass again (I had quit for over 10 years to become a father/husband) and I was to do it for him. He wanted me to put a band together to do his work and glorify Him and expand the kingdom. Two years and many changes of personnel later, we have 10 people that all understand the assignment God has put on me, and all are great musicians, Christians and everything you want in band mates.. Pastor, Shellye and I prayed over my assignment and my healing. To think I was chosen to be a difference maker in the kingdom… and a HUGE difference maker no less,, was blowing my mind as I sat there in a drug induced state… But I have to tell you.. two days later I was well enough to get out of that hospital, although not 100% better, I am back at work and living in my own house. NONE of the nurses believed how quickly I recovered, and this was al precipitated by the word of God my pastor delivered… I have a renewed fire for the reason for my life, and I burn every day to do what ever God has in store for me. Chosen’s last rehearsal was SO good, you could see he was there really shaking it up..making everything perfect so we are ready to make a difference, to enlarge people’s territory and make a difference in the kingdom. It is awe inspiring that he chose ME for this…but what an honor. I spend every morning now on my face thanking him for this assignment, and letting him know I am ready and willing for whatever the days work is…
